General Purpose

Here at HQ mental strength we like to go after "big fish" and ask the hard questions. Thus, together with the usual questions about their health and circumstances that often ask clients "what and where is the meaning in your life?" In short, what I mean here is:

What is your purpose in life and being? - What is the point of you?

It is an easy and simple question ... Right? Maybe not, but for mental toughness, resilience and overall mental health, we must be able to answer this question. Read on and hopefully I can give some useful advice or at least something to think about and consider.

Commitment and Meaning

One of the key components within the mental toughness and resilience is have commitments in our lives. Commitments are our goals and purposes, our goals and objectives, things we think are important and give us meaning in our lives. Really no matter what our commitments are, or what others think of them, provided they are meaningful to us. Our commitment to give us direction and focus for our lives, and not as an internal navigation Sat They offer us a healthy tension between what we have achieved and what still want to do. The meaning of our commitments we gives resilience because we will go ahead and meet the setbacks and frustrations, in order to fulfill our purpose. We will learn from mistakes and solve problems instead of resigning. If we have a strong enough "why" we will strive to find the "how."

Family
Amusement and recreation
Careers
Health
Staff development
EducationSpiritual
Physical environment

It is also useful to commit to things outside of ourselves, as charities, local groups, social or political concerns. In the current recession in many local charities and small, have been forced to make staff redundant and are now suffering from shortages resources, just when most needed. You can make a real difference by volunteering and giving a few hours of their time to help. It would also be increased mental toughness by the addition of another area of purpose and meaning to your life.

The meaning of life exists in the outside world only in our inner world. If you run into something or someone outside ourselves and have a cause to serve, we are less aware of ourselves. By focusing on the outside world, less likely to ruminate, self-critical and depressed. Activity gives meaning and a sense of control over our lives, to stop complaining and complaining about the world and actually do something about it.

What if we have no commitments and meaning?

If we have no sense of meaning or commitment of our lives, then we are in increased risk of poor mental health. A vacuum can be filled with boredom, sadness, anger, violence, addictions and depression. You may already have achieved some important goals in different areas of our lives and completed projects that were important to us. It may be the case after realizing many of our goals we get sad and wonder what's it for, that was once there is gone. Our circumstances and the world around us may have changed since the end of a relationship, a death of someone close to us, changing jobs or moving house. Our mental health is at risk when the environment changes and that do not adapt. As our lives and the conditions around us change we need to find new goals and meaning. The meaning of life changes but never ends.

Each of us is responsible for what our life, life is meaningless, unless you provide it. If we ask, "What is the meaning of life? "then our commitments and targets should provide the answer. If you have no meaning in our lives, then we are restless until only die.

So, back to my original question: What is the point of you?
