After having successfully developed two variants of open source Linux on my IBM T40 laptop in the last 5 years, a weight comparison can be made between Fedora and Ubuntu. Fedora, the open source version of Red Hat, requires the experience of installation of some Linux gurus of Belleville, Ontario. It worked very well, but requires some ninja Linux system administration every 6-9 months.
